IWD X Dinny Hall - championing courage with Women's Aid

International Women’s Day is a special time to reflect and praise the journey women have made through history whilst offering solidarity and strength for the future.

As a female business owner and mother, I have always hugely valued my ‘female village’. As such I am thrilled today to celebrate our ongoing supportive relationship with a very special and important organisation; Women’s Aid.

Our much-loved Suffragette collection was designed to champion female empowerment and strength. Over the last few years, we have raised over £20,000 in support of Women's Aid through donating a percentage of every piece sold. By purchasing a piece you are directly supporting the incredible work Women's Aid do and changing the lives of women & their families.

A new discreet way to reach out

With the support of crucial donations, Women’s Aid took their support online with a Live Chat Helpline. With your Suffragette donations we were able to help Women’s Aid expand the operating hours for this service throughout the pandemic.

This has been a vital lifeline providing knowledgeable support in a way that is discrete, accessible, and compassionate. Women’s Aid continues to hear from survivors who relied on this service to access help whilst trapped at home.

A safe online space to build a community

Women’s Aid maintains a Survivors Forum – a safe, anonymous space for women who have been affected by domestic abuse. With a 43% rise in traffic and steadily increasing membership over the pandemic – this was an important space for women to build support networks online.

This forum has been my lifeline. Every one of us knows what the other is going through to some extent or another. You are safe to talk on here, safe to get angry. We’ll listen and believe you unconditionally. We are you, you are us.’

Women’s Aid is currently also responding to over 1000 emails a month from survivors.

Tools to make a better world

This year, Women's Aid have begun running ‘Ask Me’ training sessions online, which educate communities on how to respond to domestic abuse and signpost effectively. Throughout 2020, they have also created ‘Expect Respect’ Toolkits for teachers and youth workers to teach children and young people about healthy relationships. With your support, Women’s Aid continue to find new ways to help build a safer and kinder world.

"All of this work is made possible thanks to our wonderful supporters like Dinny Hall, and for that we are so grateful."

To help Women’s Aid we continue to dedicate the Suffragette Collection to their cause and use our platforms to amplify their important work. To us, this IWD is all about female-led change, resilience, and making a positive impact in the face of adversity – let it be the inspiration that drives us all to do more.
