A Star(gazer) is Born
Every Dinny Hall jewellery collection is always heavily immersed in storytelling – behind every precious piece is a tale to tell.
Jewellery is about emotion, memories and nostalgia. Introducing our newest collection launch; Stargazer, and where it all began.
Dinny’s fascination with stars began with her first teen fashion purchase, a pair of navy blue “Loon pants” covered with little red stars. From strutting down the street and feeling like a star in her new trousers, to staring up at the heavens in teenage wonder, then falling in love with David Bowie, the biggest star of the time, the emblem of the Star was etched firmly on Dinny’s creative heart.
Years later Dinny was to have a chance encounter with David Bowie at her first studio in London’s Soho, 43 Beak Street. As to be expected, David’s star quality was to make Dinny weak at the knees yet supercharged with inspiration: "I was absolutely obsessed with David Bowie, when he came into my workshop he said ‘Hello little lady’ and I went weak at the knees, I couldn’t say anything, I couldn’t."
It was in fact a collaboration with acclaimed fashion designer Rifat Ozbek in the late 80’s where Dinny’s fascination with all things celestial was brought to life. The launch of this collection propelled Stars and Celestial to the forefront of Dinny’s aesthetic and stars have been part of the Dinny Hall signature design ever since. The cult-classic and still best-selling to this day, Bijou, launched onto the scene in 2009 and remains a firm favourite to this day.
Shoot to October 2022, Dinny felt there was no better time than now to breathe life into the star and turn up the design dial and launch Stargazer. This collection celebrates a youthful & bold glamour and high-octane effervescent style. Stargazer is not for the faint-hearted, it’s for the bold souls with star quality. Stargazer also celebrates a new design era, welcoming Jewellery Design and Development Officer, Holly Mathewson to the Dinny Hall design team and celebrating her debut design collection. Holly & Dinny met in 2021 at the Professional Jeweller Awards ceremony where Holly scooped Young Designer of the year and Dinny simultaneously won Designer of the year. They bonded over all things design and Dinny, always committed to forward thinking design and talent, spotted an opportunity to onboard Holly as her fresh new talent within the design team. Pardon the pun but…a Star (gazer) was born. With Stargazer coming to fruition Holly had the quote from Teddy Roosevelt circling in her head ‘Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground’ because it reminds us to ‘never stop dreaming but to get rooted to ourselves and our journey’.
Stargazer is now ready to hit the tiles and the sky is the limit. Delving into the rich culture of the 70’s and celebrating a hint of glam rock and the joy of expression. The high polished shine of solid silver or 22k gold vermeil captures the light, radiating instant star appeal. Cascading Stars adorn party goers ears, statement lariats and necklaces highlight individual standout style. This collection is for everyone with an unrivalled magnetic vibrancy, are you a Stargazer?
